An independent study by student Jona Decker and his fellow students from the fields of economics, physiological chemistry, social science and psychology examined how treatment with cannabidiol can affect patients suffering from anxiety disorders. The aim was to prove whether the sick person concerned could be helped by taking cannabidiol on a regular basis. The fight against a so-called "social anxiety disorder" is one of the main focuses.

With this type of pathological fear, those affected fear that other people will see them as "strange". Depending on the degree of the disease, this results in a more or less severe restriction in everyday life in this case. Approximately seven to twelve percent of people in Germany are affected by a social phobia. This form of anxiety disorder is currently treated with either psychotherapy or medication (often based on antidepressants).

Various studies have made it clear that CBD can apparently positively influence the effects of a social anxiety disorder. In the past, products containing CBD have already given countless people a chance here. The turnover in the industry is increasing. Interest grows. In this case, isn't it a placebo effect? To cure an anxiety disorder at all, how or can CBD help in this case?

The scope of the cannabidiol study results

The study showed that on the basis of a comparatively low dose, it is actually realistic that the regular intake of cannabidiol can also help to reduce an anxiety disorder in the form of a social anxiety disorder. Nonetheless, it should be kept in mind that the test candidates also do this on a daily basis CBD oil took them in their familiar surroundings and themselves. The consumption could not be precisely controlled.

Since there was no improvement in the anxiety disorder, it can nevertheless be assumed that an overall placebo effect can be ruled out under treatment with rapeseed oil.

However, a larger group of test candidates would be needed to ultimately make the investigation even more meaningful. That it is actually at CBD oil is an optimally efficient remedy for anxiety disorders acts, can therefore still not be perfectly and scientifically proven on the basis of said investigation. Additional, more comprehensive investigations would have to be carried out here.

The aim of the independent cannabidiol (CBD) investigation

Whether cannabidiol (CBD) can be used to treat social phobias and so that it can also prevent symptoms such as the popular blushing, tremors and the like should now be regulated as part of the aforementioned, independent investigation?

The result

In seventeen of 19 cases, after a study duration of 30 days, it was found that the anxiety levels of the test subjects who had consumed cannabidiol (CBD) have improved by an average of 32 percent.

To put it more correctly, the average anxiety values before the start of the study were 4,1 (on a scale from 1 (no discomfort) to 5 (very great discomfort)) and then 3,2. By taking the cannabidiol, the perceived anxiety disorder was reduced. Again, taking the placebo showed no significant effect.

If there is an existing social phobia, the investigation for this purpose suggests that - taking cannabidiol (CBD) - in an appropriate dosage can very well be useful and advisable.

This also applies with regard to the perfect tolerance during the execution of the examination. Only one test person suffered from fatigue for a short period of time. Otherwise it was CBD oil easily tolerated by the participants.

As part of the study, the Dosage of cannabidiol (CBD) (at fifty mg / dayThe literature often deviated from the stated 300 to 600 mg per day because ...:

  • on top of that, the trial costs would have become too expensive.
  • a few studies in the past have shown that lower dosages give better results

Fundamental information about the cannabidiol study

The study was characterized by the following key data from the student Jona Decker and his colleagues ...:

  • 30 days of study
  • The fear values BEFORE and AFTER the examination were compared with one another.
  • 40 test subjects (or 37 because three test participants discontinued participation in the study) who were found via social media, were on average 32,6 years old and who can be shown to suffer from an anxiety disorder from the specialty of social anxiety disorder
  • 18 subjects received a placebo - without their knowing it - (in the form of rapeseed oil), 15% CBD oil consumed nineteen subjects

As expected, participants were assessed for any health restrictions by their general practitioner prior to the start of the study.

What is CBD?

When it comes to “CBD”, several people always think of cannabis and so - at least in Germany - an illegal substance. BUT: which contains more than 80 different chemicals, cannabidiol, therefore cannabinoid, is NOT psychoactive compared to cannabis.

The test candidates in the study, which has also already been investigated in studies by the scientists Crippa, Zuardi, Garrido and Wichert-Ana, therefore benefited from its anti-anxiety effect.
